has become part of everyday culture. People are exposed to hundreds of adverts
every day whenever they switch on the TV or
radio or open newspaper or magazine. This means that we know all about tricks that advertisers use to sell us
their products and so they need to work harder than ever to keep us
interested. Latest trend designed to do this is known as ambient advertising.
This is the practice of putting ads in
unusual places to make the product stick in people's minds. It also allows the
advertisers to be flexible and to try all sorts of new approaches to
advertising. Ambient ads started out on sides of taxis and backs of bus tickets but even these have now become
commonplace. One recent award-winning campaign
advertised modern art agency by putting stickers on everyday objects such as
lamp-posts and paving stones, describing them as if they were works of
art. Another involved projecting images of English football team onto White Cliffs
of Dover to promote brand of trainers. It seems that wherever you go these days some advertising agency will
have got there first and will be desperately trying to grab your
attention. IV. Insert prepositions/postpositions where necessary. 1.
