Мероприятие в 11 классе

SCENARIO

T: Hello, KNOW-ALLS! Glad to see you at our intellectual casino. Today we will play a game and earn some money – the so-called "know-alls”. We’ll have 4 competitions. After each you’ll get an amount of "know-alls”. At the end of the game the jury will count all your money and say who the winner is. But be very attentive – you can not only earn money, but also lose it.

T: It’s time to name your teams. And choose the captain of your team.

T: Are you ready to start? Let’s begin!

T: The first competition is "Your choice”. You are to look at the screen, listen to the question and choose the right answer. But first, one member of your group will make a bet. And he is the only person to answer. If the member of your team guesses – he or she doubles the bet! If no – loses. Let’s start with ….

T: The second competition is "The Black Box”. Please, bring in the black box. Now listen to me and try to guess what’s in the box.

This is a symbol of Easter holiday. Little children believe that it comes and leaves eggs for them. Who or what is it? (Easter bunny)

T: The third competition is "Who’s the first?” You will hear the questions on three topics: geographical position, places of interest and political system. The team which will be the first to raise the hand and answer correctly gets 3 "know-alls”.

1.     Geographical position:

1)    What is the western coast of the British Isles washed by? (By the Atlantic Ocean and the Irish Sea)

2)    What is the highest mountain peak in Wales? (Snowdon)

3)    What is the worst thing about the climate of the British Isles? (Frequent rain)

2.     Places of interest:

1)    What was the Tower of London in the past? (It was a fortress, a palace, prison)

2)    What is Big Ben? (The bell of the clock on the Houses of Parliament)

3)    What is Scotland Yard? (The name of the police force in London)

3.     Political system:

1)    What kind of state is Great Britain? (A parliamentary monarchy)

2)    Where did the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II take place? (In Westminster Abbey)

3)    Which House of the British Parliament is elected by the people? (the House of Commons)

T: And the fourth competition is "Listen and Guess”. Each team will get a picture of a British sight. You are to think a little and make a description of it. The other team will listen to your description and guess what sight you have in mind. If you guess – you get 4 "know-alls”. (Buckingham Palace and Stonehenge)

T: Now let’s give some time to our jury to count your money and name the winner. And the winner is …!
